George’s journey into music is anything but typical. A self-confessed late bloomer, he only picked up a guitar in 2020 during lockdown, a moment that would unknowingly set the course for everything that followed. What started as time spent learning chords & writing his own songs in isolation soon evolved into an obsession with songwriting. Growing up, George was heavily inspired by Arctic Monkeys, whose sharp lyricism and infectious riffs left a lasting impression. Since then, his influences have broadened, shaping a sound that blends indie grit with expansive, modern textures.
Since forming in 2023, Black Lounge have wasted no time turning momentum into milestones. They’ve been championed as a featured artist on BBC Introducing and BBC Essex, gaining recognition for their standout tracks and captivating performances. Their live reputation has grown just as quickly, selling out multiple shows across London, including a sold-out headline performance at the O2 Academy Islington. The band have also recorded at the legendary RAK Studios, working alongside acclaimed producer Danton Supple, known for his work with Coldplay, a testament to both their ambition and the strength of their sound.
